1. Revenue Growth..Year on Year
2. Profit Before Tax Growth
3. Growth in profits on Quarter-Quarter comparatives
4. Growth in Earnings..year on year

..... thus far i hit a snag. Sad

what next?

1. Earnings as percentage of revenues or PBT as percentage of revenues?

2. Break all the above on per share basis?

3. Compare each of the above to market cap; to check on how investors are valuing each shilling of Revenue/PBT/Earnings etc etc?

4. Calculate return based on Assets/Working Capital/ Cash/ Operating expenses ?

which is the best criteria to make an automatic stock picking investing system that works with little or no input from me on a daya by day basis?

Hey i'm aware of that.. and that's the future.. but for now..reading culture in kenya is better than most..but mostly on print. online bulleted versions/adjuncted versions work better..plus audio streaming preferably the best.. but for now.. a mixture of on line and print with most focus on print.

Proverb.
It's so difficult to generalise the market and come up with a knit up formula. And that's why no one wants to comit to a given .
Everything is run by emotions, in this case investor's ferlings.

@sober.. Thanx.
just looking for a neat criteria on fundamentals..and then the technical aspects of the price..

intention is to stem my own emotions..not to rush and buy coz like the thread on kq someone is screaming.."time is up! buy quick!"

i'm looking for a deliberate plan that tells me "when you see this 1, 2, 3, 3 things.. consider them also against the share prices and then buy/sell/hold when PSR=x, p/e<y and price to book value < blah blah blah..: etc etc

this is such that i have no reason to wonder what i'm missing out on when i dump HFCK at 26 and it goes to 30 or buy KK at 11.30 and watch it fall to 10.90.. you get me?

ProvB..i think the best thing is to consider the business.Coz every business has different variables to consider. And deep down, what i use is i think of assuming i had billions to invest and i had the ability to buy the whole company, what are some of the things i would think about. There, you'll realize that life becomes easy and your not shaken by day to day changes in value of ur portfolio coz the business value hasn't changed that much. Its easier to build a great portfolio like that.
But if you want short cuts, you may sell to early or buy the stocks at wrong times.
Another suggestion, you should read the book Zulu Principle by Jim Slater...it'll tells you how good you can be at something when you narrow down your vision on a few things and decide to be good at them. So you can decide to specialize in financials or industrials or which ever, as long as you horn ur skill in that and realize the real variable to look at. I think thats why WB has chosen Todd Combs to be his successor. Simply because this guys focuses on financials and he majored in them.

@ProverB Hmmmn, I know the ranking that would make sense for me in the NSE:

One that lists intrinsic value of each counter - whatever that is?
