if you arent able to ride the banks since the beginin of the year pole xana.but my next picks are

1.Kenya Airways (those tourists nubers are staggering)

2. KK ( issues resolved, good expansion strategy, pick up in world econ)

3. TPS ( stable econ climate, tourist numbers are up)

I think you are late on tps . you shld have picked this gem wen it was 40 bob at years beginin. But its stilll a bargain.During the boom of '07 it used kto trade at 120 bob so its still a bargain at todays level.
i just dnt see whats the hype about JUBILEE HOLDINGS LTD.I hope itsnt another Unga in the offing. But the co. looks strong.

By the way i think its just a big joke that Sarova Stanley,Nairobi was voted the best hotel IN THE WORLD.surely can it even compete with Hilton ?????Something is a miss here.

haven't you heard of the curse of the next great stock? For some strange reason the next great stock never gets to greatness.
The utimate goal of investing is to buy low sell high;if we re-write this core equation in psychology terms it becomes buy fear sell greed.

how much does it cost KQ cater for a single passenger? whatever the cost..it has been going higher every subsequent year since 2004..

somehow..increase in passenger numbers does not necessarily translate to shareholder value..

1. KK all the time.......highly liquid....blue chip of the oil sector ... cheap thus you can buy bulk .... an increase by a small amount outbeats others...coz of volumes.

2. TPS .... serena hotels....well managed ... related to DTB and jubilee.....Many tourists streaming in.

3. KQ ..... pride of africa ..... member of skyteam....well managed ... many tourists = more money

In that order.

@ProverB - True... but what is critical is PLFs for airlines ask a jamaa @Horton...

Where is @Horton anyway?

Many airlines break-even at a certain Load Factor (% of the plane being full)... so anything after that is (almost) profit...

I think KQ's average break-even LF is 67% [these varies a lot due to multiple factors] so when PLFs exceed 67% by large margins then KQ profits will soar...

BTW, I fly KQ & often my flights are chock-a-block... Of course, not all flights are like that...

Vituvingisana.
Good insight, also when looking at the percentage of plane booked we dont count heads but instead the given score. Business class full without a single user of economy class will still warrant the trip.

About PLF,I thought that a plane can still make money by ferrying more cargo when the passengers are few?

Where would you store the 'additional' cargo? If the belly is full... it is full... I don't think it can be stored in the main cabin...

I remember KQ used to put Airbus 310 on the Dar route for cargo reasons. We would all have fitted in First Class with lots of room to spare.
