when will gova come clean and let go of bureaucracy and hullabaloos...am still waiting the likes of KCC,KMC etc to be privatized...and put on hands of turnaround managers free of political patronage...even if Kenya is not blessed with many mineral resources like our neighbors we can harness areas kama agribusiness and value addition in the likes of Brazil n India..

Kenya has very many middle sized successful companies but un-listed,which swallow all their profits alone or even develop other countries.the gava is supposed to sit again and increase the listed companies incentives to make the pie very sweet for anyone to resist.

Firms list for certain reasons... they do not if they do not need to...

1) Raise cash for expansion
2) Current shareholders want to cash in e.g. Safaricom
3) Raise the profile
4) 'Engender' themselves to the public

This statement is like the police saying they will arrest 300 people today, what if only 285 actually commit a crime?

For the police to meet their target they will need to fabricate evidence against innocent individuals.

Now that the regulator has made such a statement lookout for Clip & Desi reappearing to list on the NSE Shame on you

As investors can we invest in unlisted companies with the intention of listing them in 3 or 5 years. We need to become creators and stop just being consumers of IPOs.

In the USA... 2 huge 'private' (unlisted) firms are Cargill & Koch Industries.

Cargill: Cargill and MacMillan families own 85%
Koch Industries: The 2 Koch brothers are worth an estimated $35 billion (2nd only to Warren Buffett & Bill Gates)...

BTW, even Bill Gates has many 'private' investments as does his former partner Steve Allen... Berkshire Hathaway owns many other huge 'private' firms as well...
