Will GoK interfere with Mumias Sugar?

If you are a sugarcane farmer and you do not like the price Mumias pays, then do NOT supply Mumias!!!

Of course, if Mumias lent you money... repay it first!

Let them stop selling cane to Mumias... coz they are lazy bastards out there!

Mumias plants, fertilizes & harvest for many of these guys! All they do is weed! It is rain-fed... Mumias gives them loans too...

@VVS an agreement is an agreement and they should fulfil the obligations they signed up for.

Why don't they just buy the land and do the weeding too? There is a set price agreement and they should honour it. You may see the farmers as lazy but they just adjusted over time to counter the predicament they are in. Mumias Sugar are far from the saints you think they are.

BBI will solve it

Cane price is an agreement between the farmer and the miller.Attempt by some busy bodies to hijack the process is an exercise in futility.....unless we are going back to the old days of price control.That aside,no one forces the "farmers" to grow cane (As if they do).....In a recent study,it was found that it is more viable and cheap to source cane from Uganda (Lugazi,Kakira and Kinyara fields).KSB and the "farmers" can keep their cane or better still,chew it.....I am with VVS!!

@njun'ge no one is hijacking the process...

Mumias AGREED to the price revision...

I think G.O.K should force them to pay the 880million....

Another reason why Mumias needs to move to TARDA. Being a social provider is not really consistent with being a listed firm in a capitalist economy.

@Guru,
Agreed with who???....To the best of my knowledge,contracts are signed by individual farmers and not some blanket body.....and if that is the case,the only legit bodies to sign on behalf of farmers would have been the outgrowers organizations......
