an ocean of options. How much do you want to spend? do you have any particular taste e.g vintage, victorian. Which fabric?leather ama? some fabrics cost 1k or 5k per metre while others cost 200bob

@Eric,

You can get a sofa for as little as 40K (Enda hapo Mutindwa on your way to Umoja)possibly for less depending on quality. You can also try Victoria furnishers who will happily take Kshs 200K to 300K from you, again depending on quality.

I thought the mtindwa furniture shops were demolished?... Last time i used that road(about 3months ago),most of them were no more.Unless of course they were rebuilt..

The just ended sale at Fairdeal would have been a wonderful chance to buy your sofa at good rates.They had great home furniture at fantastic rates!

-Material used (for the cover and inside)
-The design

While on the topic of sofas, I'd like to refurbish some old sofas that need a bit of sprucing up. Am thinking of the Cost-benefit of refurbishing as opposed to spending money on new furniture. Is it worth the effort/cash?

I would refurbish - any time...

Just get a good fundi and buy the material yourself. Gikomba has some good materials.

I know someone who refurbished some used and worn out sofas from a second hand shop and if you saw them now you'd think they were worth ~ 100k, yet it cost her < 50k for everything

refurbishment is a cheap option. only problem is you do not have room to modify the design. You can change material and cushions and their sizes but basic design still remains.
The only time you should be looking down on others is when you are helping them up.
