Its a networking group. If you decide to join and you are accepted you pay 50k yearly and have to attend their weekly breakfast. whats your take on it? is it a worthy investment

Belonging to BNI is like having dozens of sales people working for you because all the other members carry copies of your card with them.

You even got the title wrong! It's Business Networking Internationalsmile

I believe wether it works for you depends on what business you are in,and the 'chapter' you belong to. The whole amount you invest in BNI is more than 50k yearly. if you add the 1500 weekly charge for breakfast...thats about 72,000 per year. So you end up investing about 122,000 per year or more...

You put your money in stocks..

But if you were in business you'd know that key to growth is getting the word out there..

i look at it this way..

anybody who can pay 50,000 is worthy of receiving my business card..

i am just wondering what the 50,000 is for if you again pay for the breakfast after that..

Yes, if you're in business,it's investing. It's a way of advertising your brand. In each 'Chapter' or mini group,there are about 30 serious business people who are supposed to market you to thousands of other people out there.You get the advantage of being the sole brand from your line of trade,thus all business in that line automatically goes to you. If your group is strong enough, and depending on what business you're in, you end up making many times more the 122k invested. Am not a member but i show up sometimes when they invite guests,and i have honestly done serious business with my cards in that forum and met very inspiring business people. I know of a very young lady who has become a self made millionaire by just being in the BNI network for 1 and a half years! But again,it depends on your line of business...

@Fantony
Thanks... as you've said,it makes more sense to people who're in business. because they only understand the power of 'word of mouth networking'!

I thought people 'network' naturally through friends family and acquaintances. If these 'natural' groups cannot vouch for your products and services then you qualify to PAY for the unnatural order of things.

The owners of BNI are surely laughing uncontrollably all the way to the bank.

Dont know details of BNI but it could be worth a thinking. @Mtubiz, i think youre off the mark on what "friends families and acquaintances can do to business. You dont budget for marketing to the above.

Oh,and to answer your last question, the 50k is for trainings and team building sessions undertaken throughout the year.

@Mtubiz
I have a feeling you have never been in business? How much do you think your family and friends can network for you? and dont the people you network with at BNI become your friends? Social networking... and other than just the referrals,you learn a lot from the trainings,and of course new tricks from fellow business men and women. Advertising is key to any business unless of course the proprietor just wants to stagnate at his/her comfort zone.

Mtu biz may be from an aristocratic family.. just guessing..

Leona - there needs to be much more clarity on the number of events i get for the 50,000 since we have already ascertained that we will pay separately for the breakfasts.

@Leona

I guess there is some value in networking with fellow businessmen/women who may be out of the friends and family network, i just don't think it is worth 50k a year.

You mention training? kindly expound.

Networking and advertising are very different animals.
