Check these out. I would expect smaller brands to steal ideas, copy and paste them as their own but it's very disappointing when big 'I'm proud to be kenyan' brands do it.Shame on you Check this links and share your views.

What do you guy's expect Kenyan Companies to do?
They compete with "world class website developers" at a price of KSh 10k or even less.
I am a developer myself and cannot do a "custom made" page for such ridiculous amount.
If you have to do a site from scratch using photoshop, fireworks and finally dreamweaver to code html, php, css and maybe javascript a price of 500 to 2000 Euros is adequate.
Most sites "made in Kenya" are copied, templates, WordPress or Joomla.
That is what you get for $ 100...

What did the wise King Solomon say? `There is nothing new under the sun.` It is actually possible for more than one person to come up with the same idea independently. And there is no exclusive rights on ideas.

That's a lame excuse. Create value and people will pay you for it after all you're selling yourself as a brand to the global market and not just Kenya.

There's that... or you could just copy and paste.

No excuse at all, bring ONE Kenyan client who is willing to pay a standard price of $ 200 for a logo and I am willing to give you a cut:)

You missed my point. All I'm saying is you need to decide what comes first between the money and your credibility. I always make sure I do my best and produce the best work because long even after the client has moved on I would be proud to show it off in my portfolio. The stuff you do for that 10bob client is what will bring you the 10million bob client. When you go out there put your mark in everything you touch and blessings will follow you, ask Obama

2012 cheers for this.
Kenyan advert firms are either lazy or they just don't have an iota of creativity. Look at these two adverts.

Demonstrating how low bbk can go:

http://brandkemistry.wor...or-a-case-of-ignorance/

"The Old Spice Ad won a Grand prix at the Cannes Advertising Awards and reports are it increased sales of Old Spice by around 300%. Its an iconic, ground breaking campaign. So as much as we do admit imitiation is the sincerest form of flattery, what this ad has done is blatant plagiarism of the idea and the script."

Unless I'm missing the point, aren't all the companies you've mentioned local subsidiaries of multi nationals who most probably issue edicts on marketing strategies.

Hahaha, Maqbul is Old Spice guy? You've got to be kidding me! The main reason Old Spice guy worked was because that man was undeniably handsome. Can't say the same for Maqbul.
