@wasee. we are currently working on the navigation maps of kenya basically roads and street maps in major towns in Kenya. The maps also need to be tailor made since different cars use different navigation systems which also use different map formats. kindly let me have your car model if the navigation system is the original fitted by the car manufacturer or else let me have the navigation equipment make and model. Can reach me on autoscananddiag@gmail.com

@digital - I stand to be corrected by I thought the whole of kenya is digitalised? if so why re-invent the wheel? JICA had a project like this abt 2-3 yrs ago.
Lte me know how this fits in with this google earth application?

Soon come....

NAVTEQ launches Intermediate Maps of Kenya

http://news.thewherebusi...-maps-nigeria-and-kenya

BTW navteq provides data used in a wide range of applications, including automotive navigation systems for BMW, Chrysler, Mercedes-Benz, Mini and many other car makers (accounting for around 85% of market share).

@Toxicity: Thanks for the advice. we are working on a website which will be up and running soon.

@intelligentsia: It is true the whole of kenya is digitised but the digital maps lack alot of information in them.We are working on putting more details to the maps like bulding names, hotels schools restaurants, etc which are lacking. For your information JICA did maps for Nairobi only and also these maps require alot of editing to be useful for navigation purposes.

The other point is that raw digital maps need to be put in the right formats for the digital devices to be able to read them accurately! Alot of surveying jargon is used to explain that exercice!

@JkMwatha: that is interesting to hear that NAVTEQ has already done it but will see what they have!

@Digitali -> Website != email account

Setting up diagnostics@digitali.co.ke is pretty straight forward with stuff like google apps. The website can come later.

Meanwhile has anyone tried using a phone like the Android based Nexus One for turn by turn navigation in Kenya.
