Why Trade Offshore ?
The main reason is to spread your risk accross different economies and across different currencies.

When you decide and open an online account, decide on which sector to trade. It is viable to trade on industrials in US markrt, Mining/Resources stocks in Canada / Australian market, Banking. Property and Oil & Gas in Hong Kong.

You may find your preferred stock crosslisted in another market this gives your opportunity to trade on your chosen stock in another market. For example BHP Bilton, a world leading mining stock with primary listing in Australian market is cross listed in South African, US and London market . It is your choice on which market to trade on. But you have to follow the stipulated regulation of the country the stock is listed to register for online trading.
You havee a very high chance to succeed if you trade on blue chips and sector leaders, as they are the pulse of the market and on the long term major indices tend to rise year in year out.

It is a wondeful experience to trade overtdseas especially outside Africa.
Have a look at a few big stockbrokers :=

@Young which is better, trading in individual stocks or investing in a foreign fund?

@Sparkly
I believe a combination ofd the two is more ideal to balance your risk.

Most offshore mutual funds require a big initial capital like USD 5,000 and they may not accept foreign clients.
In Nairobi there www.dryassociates.com located in westlands may be worth considering.
