Yesterday evening i stopped over to refuel at Shell Langata road the one near Wilson airport.
The attendant came told him the amount gave him my card and DL. He told me they do not take cards i was like why and had fuelled the same station two days before and used my card.He told me they only accept cards of people they know (What Hogwash).I asked hime why is this he told me a few months ago they paid a lot of cash as there were cards in his words "Zilikuwa zinaenda zinarudi" din't know what this means but i insisted and he fuelled for me.

I found it very unproffessional and he lacked the customer service spirit.Anyone experienced this or did the guy just dint like my nose....

The greatest danger in times of turbulence is not the turbulence; it is to act with yesterday's logic.

I have also found this practice very annoying by petrol stations not accepting cards. I thought for them the cards are more secure, drat! while other countries progress other retrogress.

Credit/Debit card fraud is on the rise and has reached alarming levels in Kenya. The individual fuel stations (as well as other merchants) accepting these cards are the hardest hit. Some stations pass on these loses to staff who accepted the fraudulent cards and petrol station attendants are poorly paid and hardly trained on customer care. No wonder they siphon fuel to make ends meet!

Shell have introduced their own card as have Total. National Oil and Kobil are working on their own branded cards. These cards also act as customer loyalty tools.

@reddevil. Credit cards are more secure, but at what cost? Credit card companies deduct a fee of 6%, so for a lot of low margin business, it is not worth it.

+ Its a known fact that most businesses where the attendants hold the cash wanakulanga kiasi e.g. by over-billing and under-supplying. If the attendant in question is of questionable character why would he welcome a card if his avenue for picking bobs is going via mtandao

Good People,

On sunday, I decided to have lunch at Kengeles Nairobi West. When I asked for the bill, the waiter brings some receipts and hands them to my wife ( maybe I looked kama nimefugwa). I have had some experiences with waiters so I asked her to add up the receipts. She does so and when she pays, the guy insists that it was less KShs500 he had even done his own addition at the back of the last receipt. So I take it up and we add together the ETR receipts. Turns out that the fellow had left out ETR receipts for two plates. So I ask him to get me the receipts and the fellow has the tanacity to say 'ETR haiwezi toa hizo' after bringing me a handwritten captains order. When I declined to pay,and asked for the manager, the guy brings out another ETR receipt in the name of another cashier.

Hata Kengeles? Surely iko shida kubwa!

I remember what happened in the US after the Credit crunch. Petrol station owners refused to accept credit cards. Reason, they were not making any money. The credit card companies were

And then, ofcourse, you are the perfect client, the model customer. The only kind of client that any Attendant would deem an Honour to serve.

I have always wondered why Stewards rush to serve clients of European origin. With these posts I am begining to understand.

Take a good look in the mirror.
