Sweets, there are very many foreign buyers going for KCB and Equity in the run up to earnings being reported. I have put some cash in the two counters, this is just my personal position, you be the judge.

@ sweets a good portfolio should be effectively spread basing the building of the portfolio in risk in various sectors and the relationship btw the stocks you chose i.e like Equity and KCB are in the same sector of financial do a fundermental analysis then chose on one with the best prospects or even both if viable, pick some stocks from Agric, Services sec but do not follow the masses or trends generated by-large speculators
The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts while the stupid ones are full of confidence

A good portfolio should also consider income-earners. So consider some high dividend yield stocks.

I need your view on these. I've been watching these counters in the financial sector and researching on them but I'm still not sure.

Where would you put your money btwn KCB, Equity, HF, NIC and NBK (considering the intended sale by govt.)

Why aren't people snapping up HF?

BBI will solve it

Good question 2012,am looking at HFCK as a jewel at the current price yet it doesn,t seem to excite the market much.May be there is something that i don't know.

but over the past i've always learnt to trust my instincts, KQ is case in point wea i stocked up a few months ago purely based on feelings.

@Waitha
With the new products by HF and demand for housing why do you rate NIC and Equity higher? I know Equity has a say in the running of HF but other than that....?

BBI will solve it

All responses have been most usefuls...the importance of not focussing on one segment, balancing high yielding and average yielding stocks, importance of research etc. I will take all into account and apply in the near future...hey I will also give you feedback in the medium term. Always, Sweets

@sweets, please allow me to re-open the discussion. As you work on the portifolio, first determine the level of risk you can stomach. Come up with objectives and set goals. review the goals from time to time. Based on your risk tolerance, you might consider a port with bonds, real estate etc

Sparkly thanks, it aint that the discussion is closed and your contribution is most significant. I am already in real estate...in my own small way...though yet to embark on development of the properties in Msa and Nrb. Bonds...I need to do serious ngumbaru on this subject...and also for now cash flow for all three is a challenge hence stocks and estate, cheers Swts
