National Insurance Corporation Limited (NIC) Offer for Sale of 161,552,000 Shares to the public opened in Kampala on Thursday 31 December, 2009.

The Offer Period will run for five (5) weeks closing on Friday 05 February 2010. The key dates are as follows:

1. Thurs. 31-Dec.’09 – Opening of Offer Period;
2. Fri. 05-Feb.’10 – Closing of Offer Period;
3. Tues. 09-Mar.’10 – Announcement of Basis of Allotment Criteria and IPO Results;
4. Thurs. 18-Mar.’10 – Dispatch of Share Certificates;
5. Thurs. 25-Mar.’10 – Listing and Commencement of trading of NIC shares on the Uganda Securities Exchange (USE).

Considered this offer but feel that it is too small to be sold beyond the borders of UG. 161m shares and the minimum application is 2000 shares. If we assume that every applicant is allocated the minimum, then only 80K applicants will be allocated. it is not worth thinking about.

You're quite right. It's not worth it. I was a little disappointed with its market share as well.

Between the transactional costs (wire transfers, etc)... this might not make sense for Kenyan investors.

thanks.....dyer and blair insists on a minimum investment of KES.1 million though.....
