I work in CBD & live in Nbi West. The economic meltdown has caught up with me.

I contemplate moving to Ongata Rongai / Kiserian where rent will be 1/3 what am paying now,but for a larger house. Will this be wise move ?

I need some quick analysis like how much more on fuel cost, savings if any on food items

First and formost dont think ati the rent wil b a 1/3 unles u are payin from 40k.but i think jam bado utapatana nayo coz of msa rd.the only place am sure of details is Ngong,if u are in a mat by 6.30 or 6.45am u'l b in tao by 7.30,if u have a personal car the better, problem is houses are slightly costly than rongai and kise. 2bedrm is b2n 12k -15k.food in all the 3 areas is cheap coz kuna market.all the best.

...yes the houses are much larger and nicely finished..but no rent isnt as cheap esp in Rongai. But its a rather nice place to stay.

...Kise is too far and if you are using a Mat,you will need like 2reds per day.

@ Mwenza

My employer already talking to us about retrenching 60 % of workforce.

I have to prepare fast so that the little savings I got can see me through to the next job. The meltdown is here and real. I wish I were you...

@ Carygoh

Ngong has water problems ? Thought they use boreholes,or it is a case of dried up wells ?

@Zamali,rent in Rongai is absolutely low compared to West. Last weekend I visited a dude who was staying in a spacioius 3 b/r flat. He was paying only 1/3 of what he used to pay.

But not all places in Rongai are cheap. Also transport is a problem especially if you are working in CBD and don't drive. School is also an issue if you have kids. All in all the environment is good. good luck
