Did you get that right? What are they aiming for? That will raise only 50 million shillings,a drop in the ocean for them.

see it through my lens?

sorry,not 1 million but 100 million. It is not the company sellig. Transcentury is providing opportunity to the current shareholders interested in selling some of their shares to do so through an OTC system. At most,100 million shares is my estimate of what may be available. So the money goes to shareholders who may wish to divest. The 10 top shareholders have 62% of the 262 million shares. There hasn't been a secondary market through which shareholders could sell if they so wished. Do you think this as a good buy?

@cnn 100 million shares at Ksh. 50 each will raise 5 billion.
@stonemimi it would be important to read the prospectus first to know if its a good buy.

@Stonemimi

v They are still holding on to RVR,a huge letdown so far unless they start building the 4 metre wide rail from Mombasa to Tororo.

v Where is the OTC taking place,what time,and what do you need to qualify.

v I believe it is worth putting some money in Trans-Century even if it is just for kicks…...

Minimum subsription is ksh 100,000. The agent is D&B

The portfolio looks really good. However,as many would say,the deatils are in the small prints.

Were the company so good with a bright future,the big shareholders wouldn't want out? Remember the trick with IPOs; existing companies only sell you shares after hitting their peak performance and future forecasts show either a plateau or decline. Safaricom,Pakaready,Accesskenya,Mumias anyone? BBW!!

@Marketplaz: So where does that leave the rest of us? Are you implying that we should invest in listed companies because the initial owners are always selling off 'after hitting their peak performance and future forecasts show either a plateau or decline.'?

OTC is always a better deal if you want to cash in on good money..EB was going at 66-70 OTC..just imagine the PE for that in current EB price?

This is happenening because they tried earlier to do private placement and no one bought! I think their target was a couple of Billion and they got a total of 100M. Complete failure at the institutional investor level,so now come down and con the retail end.

Invest at your own peril...these guys will be irrelevant in 2013.

@Juojo

v OTC stands for Over The Counter (Applies in the transcentury case)

v You can also have OTC prescriptions,like in a pharmacy

v Some time ago,am told,there used to exist a bus company called OTC

v That one used to stand for Onyango Twende Country

v Or better Overseas Trading Company

@Pretty;

You are wrong. I was quite old during the days of OTC bus company...it was listed on the NSE,by the way.

Everybody knew that OTC meant Onyango Twende Choo

@Juojo
In stock markets,OTC means Over The Counter. This is when a stock is sold directly by brokers without having to go to the trading board. In other words,the shares are not listed,so the are traded over the counter at the brokers' offices.

Umeshika?

he he!

Just remembered I tried explaining OTC to a client sometime in 2007. After telling the lady 'it is done over the broker's counter thus over the counter', she asked very innocently, 'what if the broker has no counter?' LSHTTARDML!
