Hi SK members,Can someone help me reconcile the fact that KQ is giving out dividends despite of losses running into billions.what does it mean unrealised loss on fuel derivatives? lastly considering all the above what is the future outlook of the share?

unlimited possibility

KQ has shown a BOOK/PAPER loss NOT a cash loss. In other words,KQ still earns CASH but needs not pay the losses from hedging till it comes due (probably monthly payments until Dec 2010).
**** Hopefully KQ will earn enough CASH profits over the next 18 months (thru Dec 2010) to cover all the losses through hedging.

KQ is paying 462 million in dividends on 25 Sep 2009. Their cash on hand (31 March) was 7.5 billion. KQ will probably have 'earned' more than 462mn by 25 Sep 2009.
**** KQ shareholders should demand higher dividends from KQ. The excuse of 1/- is pathetic. Kwani naikuni has taken a 35% cut in salo?
