Underground plastic water tank?

Does anyone have any experience with this thing? 5k L 75k.



I have a project where I would love to keep all my tanks below ground with only attic tanks and a solar pump between and I am leaning heavily towards this instead of having to build a huge unsightly concrete tank which is harder to clean, more expensive, prone to algae and whose leaks could be disastrous.

I use it to harvest rain water. However, when it rains i first allow the roof and the gutters to clean themselves to avoid uchafu going in. So far so good

This one of yours looks even better. How much is it currently going for?
Si ungeweka wire mesh screens at the top of the gutters to keep most of the uchavu out?
The good things about tanks is even if some gets in it settles at the bottom so you pump up to the overhead tank in the house without any debris going up there. And regular cleaning also helps. Nitaweka kedo5 to 10 of them chini and see if I can collect enough water every rainy season to overcome even an amergeddon situation.

10k litters will cost approximately Kshs. 98000. I had plenty of trouble when i built in Mwihoko(Kiambu county). Gov. Kabogo kept on promising mfereji water and tarmack in vain. I ended up installing 2 of these and one massive septic for my 24 single rooms. I like getting the roof to clean first just in case there are heavy metals and also if the uchafu(silt) accumulates then it becomes trouble.

I am still a fun of concrete tanks, after so much thinking I better go concrete

Hard to clean - Liner make the cleaning same as plastic
Expensive - sure but in the longterm better. Concrete cost reduces as you increases volume. Go big once.
Algae - you do a lining inside
Leaks - you do a lining inside


Apart from being expensive, longterm I still think concrete is better. I have a 96K Underground-66K (flowers etc) and 30K (drinking) to attic underground. On top of it its parking saves space so much. looking back I am happy I never attempted plastic.
I work so I can afford the amount of alcohol required to continue going to work

Why bother with concrete. I was thinking of just digging a hole, line it with 1mm dam liner paper then cover with a concrete slab. Will derive tonnes of savings.

These USAID farm ponds seem to ride on the same principle. Actually the easiest is if you have clay/black cotton soils just dig a huge open dam with KYM guys or a hired excavator doing the heavy lifting over a couple of months and then direct rain water humo humo. But you need big acreage (5 plus to do so). I believe it was sparkly who suggested 1 acre of a pond to service the rest of the acres. And you can also breed fish and charge neighbours totos for boat rides as a bonus.

Check out Mungai Kihanya's figures article of 17 Mar....it's way much cheaper to dig up the ground and line it polythene. Apparently, you can get 75,000L storage for about Sh100k!!

Algae is caused by light. So ensure tank is light-proof ie ni giza totoro huko ndani to prevent growth of algae.
