A good step... but of course the devil is in the details... Agriculture is a culture... if your great grandfather was a miner, your grandfather was a miner, your father a miner and you yourself a miner - utajua kulima aje? Farming is not for everyone!

It's their land. Let it go back to it's rightful owners. They will learn how to farm in any case, just as their ancestors were forced to mine.

Expropriation without compensation.

Let's see how it ends. Me thinks Kenya owes Jomo and his govt for their foresight and not going by this route which was the popular thing to do.

Africans in 1963 wanted all whites expelled from Kenya and all their property taken back. But those were trying times. The economy was declining as the whites had started leaving after Mau Mau insurgency broke out in the 50s. A new wave of emigration started when violence broke out in newly independent Congo(DRC) in 1960.

With these property prices tumbled and the economy contracted as Whites largely controlled the economy. I think there was wisdom in Kenyatta I's govt opting to negotiate the whites out and compensating them to stem a collapse of the economy.

For SA, it is good that they do redistribution but with compensation. Remember these whites have been there since 1652.

it's brewing for a while... i think that is why Mandela refused a second term. I always felt that they would wait until he died before coming out and asking for this... We have always considered Mandela as a great man... why?

Another Zimbambwe in the offing. Whatever SA does with the land expropriation is a slight variation from the way Zimbabwe handled it...Where did it end up in? In the DOGS!!!

Must be from the speech at Oxford. Made me see Malema in different light(he's bright) but I still disagree with that style of land reforms

Yes they will go down initially but will rise up again. They have resources. Though with a good number of whites in the country, they might avoid the harsh punishment from the west.

This is the guy Ramaphosa acknowledged, i think twice, during his swearing speech. His vigour, and the fighting spirit is unrivaled. With only 27 MPs, he has done wonders.

@Fullykenyan please answer the above question.
Also please indicate where Malema preached murder... you can indicate at what minute in his talks he said that. That would be beneficial...

@FullyKenyan

I have followed Malema for more than 10 years and I can say without doubt that, he has transformed for better over the years. for instance,
his public address is now more issue based unlike when he was ANC youth leader.
He now surrounds himself with strong, young and learned South African, (Mbuyiseni Ndlozi).
You may say that he preaches only hate, but it must not be forgotten that, he is the one who started the 'Zuma must go' campaign more than 3 years ago.

How I wish we can get such strong willed leaders of opposition to keep in check the Govt of the day in Kenya.
....He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion..
