Safaricom has to engage in the one thing they have always avoided. A price war. If they don't, within a year they will be holding less than 20% of the mobile data segment.

As it is Telkom and Airtel are king with college students. Faiba might deliver a fatal blow.

But one thing safcom is good at is strategy.

The 700 MHz frequency assigned to JTL will be the major advantage i.e one tower (eNB) can cover larger areas.

how they got that frequency is story for another day. .
