Its a bold move to stop corruption, terrorism funding, evasion of taxes etc.

Imagine if we did this here...for 1000/= notes. Our GoK pals like Kabura and co would be in trouble, real estate prices would drop, taxes would go up.

Treating the symptom and ignoring the disease. Businesses with high volume transactions are the ones who will be hurt the most.

Wow. Stealth attack at midnight.

It's going to hurt everyone in the short run. I'll be looking at this as a case study. If it works, it should be adopted everywhere.

In Kenya it will never happen. By the time he would have been announcing it, it would have been leaked to the tenderprenuers who would have got tenders to change the money. lol

Now that's a brave brave soul.

Kabura and co were paid using cashless transactions, no?

They have faced out Rs 1000 and 500 and introduced a new Rs 500 and 2000 . How does that tackle corruption? This has more to do with black money rather than corruption

problem with kenya is that corruption is now digital on IFMIS, kabuta would have sent the money electronically without ever handling eg buy bitcoins and send to the guys behind her.
