Hi good guys,
Anyone have an estimate on how much a km costs on a 2500cc petrol SUV like a Pajero GLX or a Prado. Running costs only i.e petrol, tyres, wear & tear, service. Do not include fixed costs like cost of car (depreciation, loan), insurance.
Your input will be MUCH appreciated.
Thanks

Thanks My friend recently upgraded from a 2005 2l Xtrail to a 2009 2.7l prado vvti and tells me fuel consumption is a fraction of the Xtrail. Says that he now uses about 2k fuel a whole week in his commute from home to work. He has done only one normal service at 10k. Tyres are still new but you can look up prices at tyre dealers.

In my estimation this is Possible only if its petrol and "your friend" Covers at most30km pd without accounting for traffic. diesel gives 10-30%more ecconomy. In the world of securities, courage and patience become the supreme virtues after adequate knowledge and a tested judgment are at hand.

It's petrol and he commutes on waiyaki way. And its true a diesel would have given him more mileage, they are known to do >20km per litre.

The querry was on running costs and not fuel economy? That 20km per litre for the diesel is on the higher side..also the service intervals for the diesel are shorter and more costly than for the petrol.. http://www.fuelly.com/car/toyota/prado/2009
