For those of you in farming, who has succeeded in tree farming?
Assuming it is purely trees(as in no other crops planted)
Please share:
What type of trees did you plant?
Which area (county?)
What is the maturity duration?
What is the level of effort...watering, weeding, etc.
What kind of returns, say per acre.

Asante

Search for eucalyptus here in wazua

You will see experiences there

But not many are into silviculture. Its long term nature is discouraging

Doing a mix of eucalyptus grandis and vitex keniensis(meru oak) in Nyandarua

Didn't do any weeding. Allowed some local people to farm there coz the spacing is generous

Returns? I have like 7 years tp wait. God willing I shall enjoy

Currently depending on who buys from you and state it can be anything between 3k and 13k from what I've heard

Thanks.incidentally I plan to plant in Nyandarua. The land has plenty of eucalyptus...but I found out recently that they were not really planted..they just grew on their own in clusters.
