I want to know what can happen if a person borrows an unsecured loan while residing outside kenya,returns to Kenya and defaults on it.

What are the most likely scenarios to happen in such a case.

Kindly share your thoughts based on your intellect and possible experience.

Munyao don't even think of doing something like that huko inje.

They shall follow you to your grave especially if they suspect you have no intention to pay. They have funds set aside for fellas like you. And you end up paying those exorbitant fees by the way.

Nothing will happen that's why it's hard to get meaningful unsecured loans in most countries. No one will give you big enough unsecured loan to make you run away with it. If you run away with the small loan, it's too small for them to spend time looking for you. If they involve law enforcement then they'll wait for you to step back into their country or countries they have treaties with then they'll get you!

I have been contacted by a debt collection agency based outside Kenya. What options do I have if unable to pay?

Its unethical to borrow with no intention of paying back. You will live with guilt conscious until you pay the money back. You can run but you can never hide .. so they will come looking for you depending on amount defaulted/stolen.
