Six witnesses had to confirm whether the special wax seals had been tampered with and after the casket was removed from the tomb like box, they went round the wooden casket confirming and counterchecking whether they were intact. And all, starting with Archbishop Kairu confirmed the seals were intact. Jubilation and ululation from Catholic Faithful who had flocked in to witness the event after attending a mass at the same venue filled the Mathari Old Chapel, confirming the beatification ceremony had started. “We are really happy and excited that our prayer and wish has come true. We now hope another miracle will be realized soon so that Sister Irene can be declared a saint,” said Fr Mutahi. Before removing the casket, Archbishop Kairu blessed the dais at Dedan Kimathi grounds where the main ceremony will be conducted on Saturday. The journey to sainthoodHutia Mundu!!

It's about Sister Irene Stefani Nyaatha, @Swenani. Please be positive. The Catholics are celebrating a person who touched other people lives. A missionary who sacrificed her life for Christ. It's a big moment for Catholics. Democracy does not belong to the dead

Is it necessary to exhume bodies to celebrate a persons life?,If my folks from Eshimalavandu village did they same,we would be branded witches If Obiero did it, Who Am I?

Live and let live. If those affected are okay with it and it doesn't affect you, why not? Democracy does not belong to the dead

We were watching news with one of my fish when she made this quote "isnt this some form of ushirikina?" i was unable to answer her. Politics is just things to keep the people divided and foolish and put your trust in men and none of them can do nothing for you...

Some of the rituals of the Catholic church are puzzling at best Great men are not always wise, neither do the aged understand judgement...

I think the Late Cardinal Maurice Otunga & Sister Anna Ali are also on the path to sainthood and Happens to very few who lived their lives dedicated to God. Let the Catholics be. Catholics remember the faithful who lived outstanding lives before them. More so the ones who had dedicated their lives to others, living not for themselves but for Christ; for humanity. They remind some of us that although we have challenges in our own lives, it's possible that we can be holy, we will overcome. The Catholic Church is the church of the apostles. These people become our role models in the Christian journey. That's why majority of Christians first names are derived from names of early Christians who are perceived to have led exceptional lives. Most Christians believe that when good people die, they go to heaven from where they inspire us and watch over us. Catholics believe these people pray for us. As to who is supposed to benefit from these rites, the answer is; to the living. Sister Irene beatification ceremony shows that good deeds never die and she inspires a generation to dedicate their lives to Christ. She shows that no matter who we are, wherever we are we can make a difference and make the world a better place to be. Democracy does not belong to the dead

A quick lesson on the Catholic faith - the fourth article of the apostles creed as codified in the 4th Century in Nicene: "I believe in one, holy catholic and apostolic church, the communion of saints, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting". Saints are the heroes of faith i.e. people whose lives stand out as beacons of faith for us (the living) to emulate. Catholic saints are holy people and human people who lived extraordinary lives. Each saint the Church honors responded to God's invitation to use his or her unique gifts. God calls each one of us to be a saint. The church has a well established philosophy and logic and structures to ensure that it does not declare an individual to be a saint where there is any doubt about their faith. In addition to being a holy person, there has to be two certified miracles before being canonized. Why miracles? These are a matters of faith and if indeed, God wishes a christian to be upheld as an example, He will give an unambiguous sign. This sign has to be examined objectively and is only declared to be a miracle if there is no explanation under the current body of knowledge to explain the phenomena. On last thing, beatification cannot occur before at least five years after death have elapsed. Beatification is the first step towards sainthood. The remains of the body of Sr Irene are what we call first class relics. There are other earthly possessions that could have survived upto this point, we call them second class relics. There are about 30,000 canonized saints in the Church. The church understands every material thing as part of creation. For instance, St. Isidore of Seville - is the patron saint of the internet.
Our prayer is that through the intercession of Sr Irene, God will give peace to our country and the humility to conquer the pride in our hearts and society. Amen.
