When is this denizen of oold issuing a full year profit warning? Culprit in the numbers appears to be disproportionate increase in Cost of Goods Sold and iny opinion, overdue management overhaul.

Uchumi following the footsteps of KQ
Jonathan Ciano following the footsteps of Titus Naikuni.

Gave up on Uchumi after seeing rats on Ngong road near the fridge. The area around the fridge was also stinking. The supermarket also lacks basic stuff found in other supermarkets. One guy working there told me "suppliers hawajalipwa" when I asked him why they didnt have basic stuff one day. The last nail on the coffin was when I bought milk before it had expired only to get home and it looked like Mala probably it wasnt stored in the fridge in good time.

cc. @KQ Such a resilient business. Even with the stock outs of H1, the topline maintained. Passed by Agakhan Walk, some difference is being made there.

They are making losses "due to committed rental escalations and the impact of rent for newly opened branches that have yet to mature, coupled with higher staff costs occasioned by growth in branch networks" As for nakumatt they paid 4b for shoprite in Tz and the courts blocked the deal till early this month. shoprite was kicked out for flooding Tz with SA goods. go figure

Uchumi and KQ are veeery similar. They report a small profit signalling recovery suck in sheep/Wanjiku and call for more cash only later report a huuuugeeee loss. Uchumi kq mumias kengen : These are "private developers" eating highways. Take money from them ,losses reported, they authorise gvt bailout and pump un cash. They milk again involving a few shareholders. One has to be a trader to get something here...no investing hapa. Everybody STEALS, a THIEF is one who's CAUGHT stealing something of LITTLE VALUE. !!!
