PERSONAL SECURITY SOFTWARE (PSS) using PHONES

Kenya is boasting of being a DIGITAL Technology country on the globe. I have come to tell these Digital Techs that I need to be safe and free as a bird. The Many home kills by gangs who stay in attack homes for over 10 to 30 minutes searching and killing people has made me to think that we should come up with an add on Mobile software where once you press some digits programmed by its adoption within 3 secs it can send immediate message to your friend (Grouped) that you are under attack who will respond by calling and directing police where you stay. (The idea of grouping friend who can help only and leave others out) same as pressing 999. This makes the police to way lay the thugs, intruders or even confront them unawares. When I read that Godana was attacked after thugs broke into his residence, i find that he could use the first 3 seconds to press his combination and switch off the phone waiting to get help. The community that stays together...say same fenced estate can use it to wake up others. The sound of such combination should be a distress call to save friends in a group. For smart phones it can show your location(GPRS) so that friends direct police there. Who has the idea? Can Safaricom help as well.

Ten years ago, I had a Samsung phone (flap) which had the same feature you are looking for. If u pressed a specific button there times simultaneously, it automatically sent an emergency sos message to 4 preset numbers. Now the most amazing bit about the feature; when any of those numbers try to call back, the phone connects automatically without even showing on the screen. It effectively turns the phone into a spy microphone. The caller can listen to the background. Imagine if u have been carjacked and u r pleading with the thugs (in Kikuyu preferably), "haki msinipeleke rongai, niwekeni hapa banda school nitatembea miguu" Your rescuer knows where you are and can guide the cops accurately.

There exists many app for that on the app stores (android, ios and windows), some are one click, others are triggered by shaking the phone ... the newer ones are making use of the wearable devices. The biggest problem with insecurity in Kenya and especially with house break ins is with the response speed of cops - at times one gets the feeling the thugs know that hata ukiweka alarm no one will come to your aid.

Most of the time the alarm is disabled or the owner is warned of rising the alarm as the sounder and light comes on. The best thing with a software is that a company such as safaricom can use your mobile signal to trace the nearest phones to one(Thugs in this case) and they can be traced and followed wherever they go. Your phone becomes a transmitter or reciever. Say for Instance, those who were nearest to the seconds Muchai was killed could be easily traced wherever they went and it was easier to catch them given that they were running away from scene of crime.(Thugs have phones for their communication.

Another technology is to have simple purpose mobiles that have simple security features such that they have internal power battery for use in keeping a serialised mobile memory with a signal that can be traced even with removal of normal battery that is easier to remove. Most of the smart phones are stolen by immediate switching off and removing battery.A security battery can still be used to keep the phone on without the screen indication for 5 hours such that you can dash to safaricom to be told where your phone is or police using it to trace the thugs in conjunction with safcom or any other provider. Serialisation may be an add on a mobile.

That would put innocent people at risk
