Anything FIFA organizes Is always riddled with mega corruption. There is a lot of lobbying done behind the scenes before the vote is taken.

Remember even the WC best player vote was also done by journalists besides
FIFA. Messi himself did not agree, and rightly so, that he was the best player in Brazil.
