I sold some shares with them last month, and have now been waiting for more than two weeks for them to deposit the cheque, since I cannot pick the cheque myself(being in the diaspora).

My questions to Wazuans:
1)Any tips of how to speed up the process, or workaround of how to get cash out of CDS to a local bank when not there in person?
2)Am also thinking of switching brokers(moving my CDS account to another firm;could you advise how this can be done?

Have you requested for payment. When you sell shares, the money is deposited in your CDS account because most probably you want to buy other shares.

If you want the cash you have to 'say so'. If you are using their online system, there is a button somewhere at the top to request for payment.
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

Does this thing really work? I tried it once and after two weeks I queried where the money was, they told me that the payment request system does not work.

@mtaalamu can you not get someone to collect and deposit on your behalf, I'm guessing that would be faster?

I have known them(D&B) to be efficient with online transactions. We need some response to @Maichblack's questions. I also think we moved from cheques to eft/tt.

At the moment it is not working. There is a funds requisition form you have to sign and return physically or scan. This is what happened when I sold shares sometime back on their paltform.
