I saw some on Ngong Road - Past The Great Corner joints on your way to Karen. That place where they do furniture.

Did I also see some at a Nakumatt somewhere? Might be. Walk into a Nakumatt near you and ask them if there is a branch that stocks them.
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

Can get some at Jua Kali next to Gikomba courtesy of first class @welder.

This is based purely on instincts.

Park the car where they can't see you parking it, lose the coat and tie etc. You can also hire a 'bargainer' - A kawaida fellow from around the place who goes and asks about the price and bargains when you are within earshot. The price is agreed on, and suddenly you are the one paying and the seller is cursing himself. A hundred bob or more to the 'bargainer' for his 15 minutes of work and you are on your way!

To who, the buyer or the seller?? Ever heard of brokers - and not your NSE broker.

@jaggernaut - One of the many life changing lessons I was taught by my former director - a very wealthy man - is: Take care of your coins, the notes will take care of themselves.

In a nutshell:

Very few Kenyans/Wazuans/People go to the bank and withdraw hundreds of thousands or millions and just waste the money. What we waste (like later today) is the few thousands in your pockets right now. Tomorrow they will be much less and you will probably not know how many of them you spent and on what. Or even how many they were before it all began!

Take care of those and you'll be okay! There is a huge difference between being frugal and being mean.

The seller. Pay the jua kali guy fair price for his work, dont drive a hard bargain (then go bendoveringsmile ). Those bbq things last forever.

''Park the car where they can't see you parking it ''? Will he find it ( assuming he parked where they cannot see it and thus when he is where they are, he will not see it too) ..kumbuka hapo ni kona mbaya.

Which side of Nairobbery do you live in. People will sell to you items worth 6k at 20k because of how you look and the clothes you are wearing. You can hardly call that fair price. Can you?

I had a (white) friend who had come visiting and one day he decided to visit the Masai market by himself. Those guys were quoting things for him at 10 times - 20 times the actual price - in dollars! How much is this carving? 75 dollars... and the rest are buying the bloody thing at less than a thousand bob. Luckily enough I had told him about Nairobbery. We agreed that one day we will just go round, he discreetly identifies what he wants as we walk around and then I go back alone later and buy them for him. I was his 'kawaida' guy. Long story short, he saved a bucket load of money! And the sellers still sold at their 'actual fair price' - probably slightly more coz I didn't bargain much!

That's Nairobbery for you!!!
