Apart from that there's some imminent 'drama', what are your thoughts about this @masukuma?

God is not "a magician with a magic wand"

Is the pope implying that all the miracles we read in the bible are the work of a magician and not God?

He is a worldly pope. We will see and hear more of these earth shaking pronouncements. We know that he was looking to accept gays but the Bishops would hear none of it.

We are likely to have a pope who talks less about God - and agrees more with men. Interesting to say the least

Ha! Just read that he believes that God cannot do everything. Which bible does he read? SMH...

The big Bang theory was first proposed by a catholic priest by the name Georges Lemaitre!

Who's the advisor? If it's still your 'self' then the prescription exacerbates the disease. It's a negation of a role and responsibility that has always been yours.

But that's the prescription many will take.

Not really. He is talking about a re-understanding and restatement of God and the universe.

The origin of life can't be answered with certainty. In fact humanity only tries to answer a more fundamental question. The question of meaning and experience.

If as the Pope says, that God created an evolving being, and we are told that God created man in his own image (Gene 1:27), does this mean that God is also evolving....or man has evolved unlike God who has remained in a non evolved 'rudimentary' state, like a pre evolved man?

I have grown up as a Catholic and remain in a religious family but I am beginning to wonder why religion does not allow someone to question some things - you are supposed to have faith and just believe. I think it is just logical to look at both sides of an argument no matter how uncomfortable it is (creation vs evolution). If someone does not allow you to look explore the other side, then this is a big red flag and the more the reason you should. This will ensure we avoid situations like what befell the famous astronomer Galileo who was sentenced to death by the Catholic Church for revealing that the earth revolves around the sun and not vice versa.

With this bold view from the Pope that we should not dismiss the big bang, I wonder how the bible stories such as creation in Genesis , Adam and Eve, original sin, come into the picture. Surely we can only have one theory as being correct and not both (though am taught by religion that evolution largely complements the creation theory and does not conflict with it, which I highly doubt).
