Hallo Wazuans. I wish to hear your opinion on the two models mentioned. The pros and cons of each. Both locally used and in great condition, similar rating 2000cc, YOM:FORESTER-2000 MARK II-2001. Reliability and performance are my main priorities since I make occasional visits to the farm. Mark II has a higher price by close to a 100K.
Thanks.

I dont think you want YOM 2000-2001 models of those 2 cars. They will be old and will kula you a lot on spares.
Anyway,if you insist...MarkII is a gentlemans car (guess that is what Impunity means)...but Forester better clearance for farm conditions plus you get to carry some stuff from farm.
But I'd advice you get a newer model otherwise brace your pocket whichever you go with.

1. Are you a single or married wazuan? - Dont answer. However, the Forester's space in the boot is great for someone with a young family. Also for the farm produce. Change the springs to a harder variety.
2. Is the Forester turbo charged? You didn't say. Turbos are a lot more expensive to run and maintain, consuming more fuel, requiring synthetic and high grade oil, short time between services and sensors can be troublesome (and expensive)
I have a Subaru bias, if I were you I would buy the Forester, if its naturally aspirated. Caveat - bad resell price.
As for the Toyota, Kamau with the gun from Gachie favors this brand over other Japan or German, though some models more than others. Even if it can't easily be sold whole, it can be sliced and diced for parts, many which are interchangeable between models. All Toyota drivers in Nairobi slightly increase the probability of being attacked by their choice of car

The comfort that comes with mark II is unrivaled. As for maintenance it all depends on you and your driving skills both spares can be sourced locally.

I will be selling my Mark II not because of performance it's more of an upgrade if interested send mail mjasirii@gmail.com

Can someone comment on the 2008 Subaru Forester SH5 model.

What is different compared to the SG model.

Anybody who has tried it.

Been driven in one but never owned.Biggest difference is "new" 2008 model has CVT transmission as opposed to traditional automatic gear of SG model. No gear shift sensation & rapid acceleration & better fuel consumption.

Thanks kanyoni man.

How I wish you could say it in Kiswahili or kikuyu!

What is CVT transmission?

Import price versus local price?

CVT is Continous Variable Transmission. Someone did a lengthy explanation of it a few weeks back, but think of it like an elastic rubber band, you can pull it or shrink it as necessary depending on how many things you need to wrap. Power from the engine to the transmission is handled similarly. It is better than the stepped gear ratios in an kawaida automatic car.
