Hi guys, for the last two weeks, my phone has been turning on GPS automatically each time I'm around the CBD. Has anyone else noticed this strange behaviour on their smartphones?
Turning GPS off does not help as it immediately turns back on.
When I'm out of town and I turn it off, it stays off.
I'm just curious to know why this is happening as it is draining my battery really fast each time GPS is on.

This is ole lenku's work.

seriously I had the same wahala, till I connected it to the wifi app. That app behaves like a radar, sensing and connecting automatically.
Sleeps,wakes up,I turn off,sleep again wakes up,what to do?
Have you tried factory reset?

Not sure if I sorted mine out, cz I no longer pay attention.

must be on android. some versions of android have a loophole where an application can turn gps on... it was fixed for a while then it appeared in some versions of icecream sandwich.

Have the same problem, but on jelly bean. I have even reset the phone twice, taken it for a software upgrade, still the same problem. Started very recently, wouldn't worry about it were it not for the fact that my battery now can't last a day, which it used to do before the GPS thingee.

Either way we can be tracked through our mobile network provider to the accuracy of the last 50 metres only that there are no data charges so let us not worry soo much about the GPS and being tracked. Unless you are a drug dealer
