ethiopia following china model. saturate banking industry with government and local banks then allow foreign banks into a market where they are overwhelmingly outgunned. kenyan banks with sights on ethiopia may be wasting their time. returns will be minimal. DR congo is a hellhole but offers better opportunities in future if it can get its act together. risk-taking muhindis and mzungus are already dancing with the devil and getting a foothold in DRC through rawbank and banque commerciale du congo. Clearly if we are serious about being the East africa financial capital our banks need to be re-capitalized soonest to be as big as the nigerian banks

Under capitalised and very profitable - The story of Kenyan banks. But our model of letting banks fix interest rates and even bank charges cannot be tolerated in most countries
