Hi Wazuans,

I am in the process of applying for the agrivijana loan from the YEDF and Amiran. I personally think it is a good opportunity with good terms - better than acquiring greenhouses from Amiran directly as an individual. However, in my due diligence I have not come across anyone who built a greenhouse through this channel. Most young greenhouse farmers seem unaware of the program and went it alone despite it being halfway cheaper through Agrivijana. My area youth fund manager has agreed to take me to a greenhouse farmer who is doing really well through agrivijana. Before then I would like to know if we have greenhouse farmers here and what their experiences have been either through YEDF or through self-financing with direct approach to greenhouse manufacturers.

Kajiado. A few days ago I was looking at a hydroponic setup, trying to get a quotation for the structures. I wonder if I can get this facility for that.

@Kinyaa Did your guarantors have to provide their KRA PIN certificates? That requirement is puzzling me though not mentioned in the guarantors form itself. I will be glad to hearing more from your progress. I was told the application processing takes three weeks after which Amiran start the preliminaries: soil testing etc

@Mukiri I am not sure about hydroponics being covered by the agrivijana loan. But YEDF still helps fund diverse biz projects so I guess you should be covered if you present it as a plan to expand your agribiz?

Just curious why does YEDF insist on working with Amiran,Why not just fund any viable agriculture businesses what if i wanted to grow maize, cabbages, avocado the conventional way?If this was the case then more people would qualify as initial capital would be much less.

@DtheK I, too, wonder. However, I have never looked into it to find out why greenhouse deals are only with the company. But my area YEDF guy told me they still fund other farming ventures that aren't greenhouse projects but I guess they probably give you money as opposed to farming support as with Amiran.
