Nyeri in push to enact law banning polythene packaging
http://www.nation.co.ke/...66/-/c7vd7/-/index.html

Hoping that all other counties will follow Nyeri's steps on this one. It will be good for the whole country. Lets adopt to biodegradable material, so that even if someone throws it in nature, it'll just disintegrate. Environment consciousness.

I don't think it's the right way to go. We only need to be more disciplined on disposal of such non-biodegradable wastes. In Japan, they have a waste separation plant that seperates the waste into recyclable and non-recyclable.

This is Kenya and we don't have the waste separation machine, thus we should ban them until we have the separation plants in place
If Obiero did it, Who Am I?

Applause Applause Applause But I am afraid it will be sacrificed on the table of "dont kill jobs. Plastic bags create employment" A few demos will be done, supported by a few "leaders", a political angle will be introduced and gone will be the idea.Sad

If you stay ready, no need to get ready.

Woi boss you are comparing Kenya with Japan ? utapotea. Just look at the bins around town and people still drop stuff right next to the bin, or those guys travelling in mats, personals and buses some even throw out plastic bottles net even minding about the other travellers.

There will be jobs for those who will quickly think about alternatives to the polythene bags and run with the idea.
