Athi river plots near UN Habitant

A friend has a one acre plot which he says is near UN Habitant in Athi River. The lease document was issued in 2010. Does anybody know the history of land around this area? How does one do a proper search including history of the plot when the ownership document is a lease and not a title deed. I havent viewed the land yet, I just want your help before i go to see the land. Shukran.
