Hello fellow Wazuans, anyone out there ever taken an on-line Masters course or considering taking one?

Any information to share as concerns credibility acceptance and overall structure. Are they equally as benefiting as in class courses especially for someone looking to do it not only for the papers but for the actual knowledge?

Any information on those currently being offered by our local universities?

Thanks all.

True. I was examining their curriculum and had phone calls with some dude called Walden ....they package it into 8 tracks that sound like they are cheap and easy (especially since its in Brit pounds) ..but when you start adding up costs of books, tuition etc etc for the whole course, it does come up to the 2.5M+ mentioned here.
Too expensive. There is a real chance you might not be able to finish the course considering the business of living and other costs continues.
I told the guy to stop contacting me since I couldn't afford it, but he doesn't listen.
Wachana na hii University of Liverpool. That is my advice to anyone seeking to travel this path. Unless you are loaded.

If you think education is expensive wait till you see how much ignorance cost!
If your aim is to get a paper to say your a fancy 3 letter acronym MSC, MBA, MPH etc then go to the cheapest uni you can get. If your aim is to get a skill and maybe network ( not recommended for online courses) then critically look at the university you choose. For example the UON economic department has a few lecturers quite skilled at econometrics and if that is a skill you require you apply for a course there only if they are currently teaching, will be teaching the course and will nto be taking a sabbatical soon.

I really get disturbed when the MBA university face off that goes on this forum lacks substance, and the amount of critical thinking that goes into choosing a university are very minimal, reflecting the disgruntlement with master programs in Kenya.

Advice think critically about what you want from the program

Look at the teaching staff on the program and take time to Google them. You can even reach out to them if you really are interested in some of the work they doing and want to learn more.

Look at the course material

Look at the university rating schedules

Look at the amenities and infrastructure the university has and read reviews on this.

Then look at the money!

Good luck!
