"Halloween" in Africa was and has always been there. Not a day to be celebrated but those of my age and people will tell you of the legendary "Wanjiru wa Kweru".Anybody?
Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

I have never celebrated Halloween and never will, it makes no sense to me to celebrate the underworld and dress up as hellish as possible. Ati turn my house into a mini replica of hell, just so I can fit into society? Nimekataa!! Halloween, in the western world, is not of God, in my opinion its a day of reincarnating hell and celebrating the devil. I really hate this day, having to look at skulls and zombies, and blood goblets, spiders, bats, human skeleton replicas, just basically what I would imagine hell to be like!! Ati, then you expect me to celebrate that coz everyone else is, and its all in fun? How come no one celebrates a heaven like day where we all dress like angels and decorate our homes like heaven would look like? And don't tell me there's Easter for that, coz Easter in the west was hijacked a long time ago and has been reduced to rabbits and decorating eggs!! It pisses me off that I will have to deal with Halloween when back in Africa, just a load of crap!

Jaggernaut I am not one to keep up with the Joneses, especially in this case where Africans are just blindly aping cultures they have no clue of. Lolest, you can set rules of what you will and wont tolerate, worst comes to worst I can always relocate to shags, that's how serious I am about not blindly following nonsense! By the way, not every American celebrates Halloween, there are those who abhor the holiday too, but they are the minority. What I hate about this holiday is its a month long thing, every store has Halloween paraphernalia, you cant even go to the grocery store without seeing cookies decorated with bats, the malls are worse!! And the worst thing is its expected in American culture that even if you don't decorate your house, you atleast give candy to kids who come to your door. The way you signal to them that you celebrate the holiday is you leave your front porch light on, if you turn off all the lights plus the front porch light, you're signaling that they shouldn't knock for candy. Now this is where this holiday gets annoying, if you turn off your lights, especially if you live in the suburbs, be sure that the next day you will find toilet paper strewn all over your front yard, or even worse they will throw eggs on your front door. And this is culturally allowed, so its society's way of pressuring you to give in, which just makes me more determined in my resolve.

Washiku to be fair, one is not forced to celebrate it, the society just expects it from you, I get dumbfounded looks every time I tell them I don't celebrate it. Lets not judge a society by its teenagers behavior.
But, this is the kind of nonsense that goes on in "haunted houses" where you pay to be a part of this nonsense, I swear lemme be backward, never ever!
