Just thought its wise to warn Kenyans here iam a car seller and i source all my cars from SBT japan. For one year i have had no problem with them until now when i ordered 5 units worth 32700usd and paid 4 units in full. My cars move very fast so i had factored thet i would clear the already paid units sell within 2wks(i do it every time) and then pay sbt balance for the 5th unit which arrives 10th oct a mere 5800usd but walas i was wrong the 4 fully paid units have arrived and sbt has declined to release the documents of even 1 unit until the 1 in the high seas is paid for. I have gone ahead and paid the 5th unit in full but still no documents this is a warning dont fall victim.

@premio .... agreed!!

I do order cars from japan as well .... 2 months ago ... i recommended my friend to buy from them .... but the experience was bad enough ..... delayed shipment ... even after promising to do so ...... it really did mess up the plan ...

i advice that people try other exporters and avoid SBT at all costs .....

SBT Japan like many used car exporters is facing considerable difficulties financially. Competition , stronger Yen and tight domestic regulations will break many exporters.

Sorry about that @Premio.

So which Exporter would you recommend now? Or you only could import from SBT?

Might be a temporary or may continue or bankrupt nobody knows. What happens is after winning the auction bid must pay full amount cash immediately. Meaning , they don't buy before receiving your money. Then their bids is low which compromise quality and time

Not many exporters will agree to send documents without full payment. They have a really bad experience in African market. Please understand.

@Tokyo, Very true. I receive numerous sale notices by IBC for cars in Mombasa, I suspect they are the ones that they have been paid 50% but balance not paid hence the port sales after the ship has docked.

@Tokyo, what email can i reach you on? I need some advice

On the unpiad unit you cant blame a buisness really for looking out for their interests but I hope they are not going bankcrupt.

mchuuzi u have bought 1 unit from SBT, I have bought 45 units in a period of 1 year that bussiness worth a lot of money. On this occassion i bought 4 units paid to the last cent but added a 5th one that was to be paid later as usual for bulk traders like me. All i waS asking them is to Realease 1 OR 2 OF THE 4 FULLY PAID UNITS I SELL THEM AND THEN PAY THE 5 TH UNIT. Had they sent documents for 2 units they would have been left 2 fully paid units and 1 unpaid units where does their interest come in here
