Christopher Kirubi on Wednesday 18th September 2013 served Centum with a notice to acquire an additional 32.66 million shares. Dr Kirubi together with associated companies controls 24.99 percent of the total issued ordinary shares and the additional shares will see him control 29.90 percent. He has applied for an exemption from complying with the requirement to make a take-over offer. The shares shall be sourced from the secondary market and based on yesterday’s closing price of KES 24.00 he is expected to pay approximately KES 734 million. (Source: D&B)

Hmmn I'd have loved to quote a profound investor on buy signals and all; almost equatable to a red light...

Shareholding Analysis 2013:
2) Christopher John Kirubi __122m__ shares, 18.36%
3) Kiruma International Ltd __32m__ shares, 4.82%
4) CFC Stanbic Nominees Ltd A/C R 48701 and 48703 __36m__shares 5.52%
8) International House Ltd __5.3m__ shares 0.81%

Is this just a clean-up exercise with a flashing siren to boot?

I was wondering whre the willing sellers will come from. The above explains it.Who is Kiruma?

I also read in an Ad that he will not make a take over bid...What about in the near future?

Sorry @Chaka, I was just about to add two more lines.

Shareholding Analysis 2013:
2) Christopher John Kirubi __122m__ shares, 18.36%
3) Kiruma International Ltd __32m__ shares, 4.82%
4) CFC Stanbic Nominees Ltd A/C R 48701 and 48703 __36m__shares 5.52%
8) International House Ltd __5.3m__ shares 0.81%

Kirubi already has an interest in all these top shareholder accounts. Which surprising add up to 29.51%

What would be the other reason of announcing if it would just raise the price you'll pay? Even Carl Icanh's multibillion dollar tweet spoke of purchase of AAPL shares after the fact, not before! http://finance.yahoo.com/blogs/...ple-stock-205938760.html.

Does he know something we don't know? Hint: planning for capital gains tax.

He is exuding a lot of confidence in the counter. His Target Price is over 100 bob

Quote:
“There is a lot of value in Centum. If you offered me a price of Sh100 for each of Centum’s shares, I would not sell to you,” Mr Kirubi said at the firm’s recent investor briefing. >>> http://www.businessdailyafrica....14/-/7cau8o/-/index.html

d'oh! I waited for Centum while it was in garage at 14 hoping to buy one day. But now it is in air at 26 and ascending to the cruising level with belts and no smoking lights illuminating mening it could touch its original height of 40 in coming months. If you see ants moving fast prepare for planting season. The dude know what they meant by dividends and.... will be paid in 2014 after few years freeze.!!!!! :D

@Realtreaty, the rally is not about dividend. Centum has explicitly said the no-dividend-policy will continue beyond 2014

Yaani one Kenyan investor can make a counter shoot up by over 20%! Interesting. I still think this is overreacting.
