my fellow kamau...

what do you understand by book closure?

you've heard me..

@kamaumash...yes you will be entitled to the 10 cent but be ready for a surprise coz your order might take ages before its executed. Possibly at Kshs 3.00

@kamaumash,do not sell,and i repeat,DO NOT SELL your safaricom shares. Its price will improve due to the suggestion by the board of directors for a reverse split. Wait till they announce the details of the reverse split,probably in november

@cxz

hey,you mean we should expect reverse 'split' as you put it- probably consolidation? when was this announced and what is the advantage whereas others are splitting eg. EB?

It was on 9pm tv news yesterday (wednesday). Mj said the board is discussing a share consolidation,probably 1 for 10. The board will come up with a decision by end of the year. My guess is that the decision will be announced in november when they are announcing the half year results. The advantage is the reduction in the supply of number of shares that trade everyday...demand vs supply

Assuming a consolidation (reverse split) of 1:10 when the price is 3/=,you would expect the price to go to 30/= ceteris paribus. However,just as a share split gives the price a downward momentum,a share consolidation will tend to give the stock price an upward momentum of 5-10% above the theoretical price.

@Underweight,
What do you mean that the order will take forever to be executed. I think safcom is
trading good volumes any single day and i dont see a problem executing the order.

Hey let me show you how i make my money...buy shares when they announce a realistic dividend,a good div will attract many investors hence demand leading to an upward movement in price..by selling the shares just a few days to the books closure date you will get some good returns say 10-30% profit which is better than waiting for the div
