When is it that I said Kenyans should appreciate that we don't have the worst system in the world?
there are people who have real issues. the culture of education is virtually non existent! Liberia and Afghanistan are such countries.

@masukuma, Aiming higher my friend, aiming higher.

If we start comparing ourselves to the likes of Afghanistan,Somalia n the like, we'll get complacent.

we are not comparing ourselves to them! nor are we resting on our laurels we are simply saying we have done a fair job so far and we know we have more ground to cover. the problem of not reflecting on what you have is that you end up with a bitter citizenry like we are having.

why do we have graduation parties? is it because the person who has graduated is the best in the world? is it because the person who has graduated topped their class? for most of us, weddings and graduation parties are milestones that people use to celebrate a family's growth! as a personal example - no one from my family (extended on both sides and as far as I can trace) had gone to university prior to me and my brother being 'called' to university. it was obviously a big deal! some other families would wonder about the pomp and fan fair once we graduated and ask... kwani amefanya nini? sisi kwetu my grandfather alisomea makerere! but they fail to understand that, while their family has been doing this for 3 generations we are doing this for the first time! we need to celebrate it since its an achievement! so enjoying an achievement is not saying its the best that has ever been done nor is it saying that you are on top of the world - its merely saying... i was at point X and I have moved to point Y and I am happy that I moved since I am better off here (at point Y).
