Hi members,
Hope all is well, i do have a peace of land in Isinya that i would be interested in doing Agribusiness in.

Yes you would ask why haven't i started? the fear of not having the ready market. My interest is in any of the following;

Herbal & Spices production.( Aloe Vera, Muringa, Damiana, Safed Musli, Chilies, Spring Onions, black pepper, capsicums, nutmeg/mace, cardamom, allspice/pimento, vanilla, cloves, cinnamon , cassia, and turmeric.)

There are organizations out there who promise to give seed money(though this is not my major problem) while assuring that after initial production they buy them from the farm. Those i have been in contact with seems to be dragging up.

Any direction on those organizations or companies ready to buy the above will be much appreciated.

Based on the choice of what you want to grow I guess you will be available fulltime to manage the farm operations or have someone to do it.

As you hunt for a potential buyer watch out for conmen who are basically out to sell farm inputs with promises of how they will market your products abroad.
I.e whatever you can get from a kawaida agrovet will be sold to you at double the price with stories of how they have selected the inputs meeting their standards.
While addressing the issues for your preffered crops you could try growing kawa stuff like sukumawiki, beans etc to raise a few hundreds rather than the land stay idle.

Agribusiness is a full time venture, never understood those who think they can farm through phone calls and MPESA. Harvesting time is a killer, if you are not there utagongwa. Have you though about integrated crop and livestock farming?
My advice is: look for the markets first before planting anything, identify if it's worth it and surround yourself with experts/farmers who are involved in what you are interested in planting.

Thanks all for your valued responses.
@Kaka M yes i will have a trusted hand full time to manage the day to day operations and be in hand on weekly reviews.

@Digitek1 a section of the land has been tilled before by the local and that's the part i want to start with. How was this a challenge to you?

@Xtina Dought i will be those doing phone/Mpesa farming. Key interest is Aloe vera cultivation and doing research if i could do also rabbit rearing. Any contact of those experts/ Farmers will be highly appreciated.

Else i welcome more advice if any out there.
