So what? Kenyan banks should finance what they can manage & understand. As is, oil firms would balk at the type of margins local banks make. We need more competition from foreign banks.

Equity Bank: Pays 3% per year on Savings Accounts. Charges 3% per chq [max 1 month] to discount chqs.
Jamii Bora: 10% per month for payday loans.

Even the 'big' foreign banks have 10% spreads.

I guess Barclays will benefit big since after merging with ABSA it will be able to lend huge.
