When they were desperately needed to offer hope, guidance and voice of reason while Kenyans were busy slaughtering each other, they were conveniently nowhere to be seen. Last week, they somehow woke up from their slumber and gave their verdict on the grand coalition government: Its time for Kibaki to go and pick coffee in Othaya, and Raila to go to Bondo to fish. Subsequently, they called for a fresh general election.

I am not really sure whether NCCK (National Council of Churches in Kenya) was speaking on behalf of God; in fact,im not really sure whether they were representing the views of the Church at large, more so the views of Kenyans.

One is tempted to ask what a fresh election will achieve at this dispensation in our country when we still have IDPs living in camps. And perhaps more ridiculously when we dont even have an electoral body to oversee the election. Needlessly to mention that the government by and large is broke and is not even able to buy a 2KG packet of maize flour for a three year old kid in Ukambani.

The day the church became partial in supporting political affilitions in the run up to the general election in 2007,in my view,is the day they completely lost their moral authority. And until they rise above petty politics of PNU and ODM,they are bound to become irrelevant. Kenyans are longing for men and women of God like the Bishop Okullu's,the Bishop Muge's,the Gitari's - who when they speaks everyone listens.

Its time for the church to clean up its act and stop showing up at the scene of the crime, over a year later - and pretend to be speaking on behalf of God...... and offering ludicrous alternatives to a very straight forward issue. Honestly, how can the church lecture politicians about corruption and governance..,yet almost every Sunday we see them fighting over leadership, and tithe and offerings? Or have they forgotten that part of the Good Book of removing the log in your eyes first?

Make money.....then you will enjoy all the fine things in life!!!

Jose: If I make it through this thug life, I'll see you one day. The Lord is the only way to stop the hurt.
