Hi Wazuans, So I drilled a borehole last month and I am looking for a Submersible borehole pump so that I can equip it. The borehole is in Loitokitok area and its 90m deep. According to the test pumping data, it can yield upto 30k litres of water a day. Anyone who has experience in borehole equipping and the prices? Share your experiences. Also looking to fit a water tower. I am not looking to spend too much on this,so any ideas on cost cutting measures are welcome. If you think you can, and if you think you can't , either way, you are right!

@brayokasa4. Congrats on your water project. Never cut corners with water- it will always find its way! If i were you, i would go for the know names for the pump- Davis&Shirtliff, Kirloskar(Sp not sure). The tower is worse coz if it is not well done, it will come down with a great thunder !Get a good steelfabricator to design one and have it properly mounted. My 2 cents All the best "Things that matter most must never be at the mercy of things that matter least." Goethe

Talk to Karnataka. They offer better and cheaper submersible pumps. As for the water tower, get any good structural engineer for advice.

Chaka wrote:@brayokasa4, Pls advise me on who you contracted to do the borehole and the total cost? The company which did the job is called Geo Science . They did it at 6k a meter but depends on the soil structure. They do a good job. If you think you can, and if you think you can't , either way, you are right!

My 2 cents
All the best Thank you @Gathige. I actually have previous experience with drilling a borehole and equipping it with a submersible pump and it has stayed for like 4 years without a hitch. The only problem is that the guy who supplied me the pump at the time relocated to another company and I cant find him. I got some quotes from Davis & Shirtliff at the time and they were ridiculously expensive . Talk about a quote for 800k and I ended up getting a pump at 200k which has served me well. Not too sure about Kirloskar (sp) buts its worth checking out. I am thinking of either putting a concrete water tower or a steel one, but I haven't settled on one yet. Thanks for the advice though. If you think you can, and if you think you can't , either way, you are right!

Kirloskar is poor Indian technology.Pay a little bit higher for a good pump and you will forget. The best in the market are Pedrollo and Grundfos.Parts are also readily available for this two types of pumps. Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

My first borehole pump was an old Grundfos. Still going strong nearly four years later. I have also heard some good reviews about Pedrollo pumps. Bei ndio mbaya Naomba serikali ifanye Zero rating for borehole pumps. If you think you can, and if you think you can't , either way, you are right!

Glad to see that some of these things that we only dream about can actually be within reach. Meanwhile though I have not tried this maybe you could try looking for pumps, online like in ebay, or bid or buy n get quotations for shipment from DHL etc.

Hi Wazuans, I succeeded in getting a good submersible pump from this company called Biselex. Their website is http://biselex.co.ke/ . They equipped the borehole, put in all the cabling and plumbing. One word of advise is that please give them your Borehole completion Report which is given by the company which drilled your borehole. They will give you advise on what kind of pump you need based on that. After that, I will show you how to cut back on some costs . Now I got the water, I need a water bowser. And the thread continues :) If you think you can, and if you think you can't , either way, you are right!

Yield is 10m3 an hour, meaning about 30k liters an hour. Hope that helps If you think you can, and if you think you can't , either way, you are right!
