yes they can access information on your computers The best measure to prevent access is to stop using the connection from your neighbour

They can only access what you have share publicly. Like shared docs and other shared drives/folders. Also depends on OS. W7 & 8 have better security than Xp. Linux is better. It also depends on how skilled the neighbour is or cafe users. Most importantly what there is in your computer that someone would wish to access. Am no networking geek but i know only shared documents and folder can be accessed in a network, not unless they have installed softwares in computer. I posed this very question to somebody using the cyber net. They weren't sure. Quote:Signed: richdad: CCIE, CCNP, CCNA, NKT, A+, N+, B+,NKT, PHD. Now what is this? "The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good.

As I stated in my answer, it all depends on what there is in that computer. This obsession with Internet insecurity is sickening. No one is interested in your files. If something is that important...don't keep it in your PC. With enough EFFORT they can be accessed. It can be stolen or burnt. Get secure storage online. In fact all photocopying machines have internal memory and all scanned/photocopied documents can easily be retrieved. Yet no one cares when they photocopy their documents in public cafes.... ) Keep it simple
