Getting non-monetary Donations into the the country

Whats the procedure if any, for getting donations into the country. I am talking of things like wheel chairs, crutches etc.. is there a government policy on this, will i be subjected to pay tax if any.. kindly advice.
If i showed you where i live, you would think that i was hiding.

I think you apply to commissioner of customs to get clearance to ship in donations. You give full description of the cargo and if it is approved, your shipment gets a specific customs code for donations. When you ship in,the code exempts from paying duty. The consignee must be a registered charitable org/ngo. I think churches qualify.
