Would you invest in this bond? I think 13% pa is pretty decent. What do you think?

BBI will solve it

Its good investment for you and for HF. Win Win

13% is above the current market yields therefore a gain for you and the 13% is a saving for HF vis a vis other sources of funds. Read on here Link

...agreed HF is an ok company and the appettite for housing/mortgages is still far away from being satisfied, unless an unforseen issue like a major risk occurs risk of default is almost nil, they,l be able to meet their payment obligations in terms of coupon payment when due...all said and done i,d go for it,just wondering for a 7yr bond(even though corporate) aint the premium they,ve factored in huge??

Fast forward to 2017. I see issues here in paying back the principal.

HFCK needs a sponsor. Will it be Britam or another entity? A Rights Issue may be the answer if Britam [I don't see most other investors buying significant Rights] can come up with the cash.

Not all Corporate Bond issuers are crooks BUT why buy a CB unless the AFTER-TAX return covers the additional risk? GoK is issuing a 12-year, 12.5% tax-free IFB. A corporate issuer has to compete with that. Not easy so they prefer bank loans. GoK is crowding out the private sector.

Britam was bailed out by IFC on 31 December 2016.
