there is an application called 'safaricom app' on google market (play store) and its quite interesting. It gives a history of Mpesa transactions and can be used to run almost every safaricom USSD applications.

The problem it is an unofficial safaricom app. as a third party, how does it get the history of transactions that I have done, including places and mpesa balances.

For those with smartphones, try it. Then give your views.

My guess is that it mines the information from the mpesa sms that come to your phone.
It also periodically checks data and credit balance. The chap has created a good app, plus its free. Not certain if it has any malware though.

checked my sms'es and the app shows some transactions for January 2012.
The app is good, and if it was from safaricom, I would definitely retain it.....the summaries for receipts, deposits, sent, withdrawn and airtime are good. But the security issues with this app are a major concern.
