wazuans....you two cents please......
I have an automobile(Toyota Spacio New model) that is/has been lying idle and after reading the new Traffic act 2012(amended) I think it would not be lawful to let it lie idle...I do not wish to sell right now. Please advice on how to productively put it to use...I am thinking Taxi or hire for long term use e.g airport taxi etc....did I mention its a 7 seater?

its a pity you actually can let a car lie idle ? you dnt want an extra income ?
yeah i would also think in terms of a taxi or hire it out ! cheapness is what will sell your service so mind the cost .

Be careful. Some taxis/hired cars are driven very carelessly that wear and tear from 6 months of operation is the same as wear and tear from 3 years of "normal" driving! Some crook taxi drivers will also change your car parts and in a short while it will be full of Taiwanese parts! You should also be wary of theft. By hiring your car out, it's probability of being stolen increases five fold!!!

Consider hiring it out to a company for their personal use. There are companies that hire cars long term instead of buying their own and in most cases, the car is used less frequently than a taxi, is better taken care of and is safer.

Whatever you choose though, make sure you inform your insurance company. If something happens to you car while it still has "personal use" insurance and they learn it was being used commercially, chances are that you will not be paid!!!!
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

Well said.
My sis hired out her car to serve as taxi but it ended up costing more in repairs.
What is worse, the person she entrusted it with treated it like his own. He knew how to make extra money with it by going to undesignated places.I think he once drove to turkana ikaja ikiwa wreck.

Company will be more responsible cz its a contract and like maich said it wont be used like a mkokoteni.
Some of these taxi people may even hire your car to 3rd party(thieves) to carry out their mission.

@ ExSPLM, Did you find a good use of your idle car, if yes, please share your experience.

@essyk..am in a similar position like ExSPLM, I have a very clean sedan car that is idle and I can consider 'lending' it to companies, any lead will be appreciated. Am preferring a well established company as I am not ready to take it for car hire.
....He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion..
